A World War One Female Relatives
Badge
Recently Lenore Frost posted an
interesting piece regarding Female Relative Badges on her blog 'The Empire
Called and I Answered'. You can read it here.
Not too long ago, I was shown
another badge - a Mother's badge - that was worn by a local Coburg woman -
either Emma Ashcroft or Maria Templeton. You can read more about the Ashcroft and the Templeton families lives during WW1 and beyond here and here.

As we look back on the years of
World War One, our focus is mostly on the soldiers who went off to war and it
is easy to forget the sacrifices of those left behind. These badges, and others
like them, are reminders to everyone that mothers, sweethearts and wives all
made their own important contribution to the war effort.
